Ironridge

The Shattered Highlands Ironridge

Description

A perilous mountain range, marked by jagged peaks, ancient ruins, and mysterious anomalies left behind from the gods’ war during the Shattering Age. The unstable magic saturating the region makes it both a source of wonder and a deadly hazard. The Highlands are a contested region, with imperial forces battling rebels and magical anomalies to maintain control over this invaluable resource. These lands are rich in Erythium, a rare crystalline ore imbued with the essence of celestial magic.

Inhabitants

  • Duraliths: Stone-skinned guardians protecting the region and its Erythium. They dominate the deep mines, where no other race can endure the pressure and heat.
  • Tharun artificers of the Iron-Guilds’ Spark-Wrights operate the surface forges, smelting and shaping what the Duraliths pull from below.
  • Crisael refugees shelter in hidden camps among the floating peaks, beyond the easy reach of imperial patrols.
  • Tharun laborers keep the supply lines moving — hauling ore, timber, and provisions between the mines and the lowland trade routes.
  • Creatures: Geode-Golems and Erythium-Leeches drawn to the magical ore.

Key Settlements

  • Argent-Deep: Massive fortress-mine of the Iron-Guilds.
  • High-Roost: Isolated Duralith trading post in the peaks.

Mystical Features

  • Erythium Deposits: Rare crystalline ore imbued with celestial magic, vital for enchanting and technology.
  • Leyline Nexuses: Centers of magical energy creating unstable phenomena.
  • The Echoing Caverns: A vast network of caves where voices linger unnaturally long.
