Years and Ages

The dating system in Kaelara reflects the passage of time across significant historical epochs, referred to as Ages. Each Age lasts precisely 1000 years, with events noted in the format [Age Initial] [Year Number]. This system enables clarity when referring to historical or contemporary events, whether in lore or records.

  • Examples:
    • 1A 532: The 532nd year of the Shattering Age
    • 2A 114: The 114th year of the Age of Reclamation
    • The foundation of the Empire of Eldara occurred in 3A 1.
    • The weakening of the Heavens’ Covenant was first observed in 5A 4.
    • A mysterious tome reads: “On the dawn of 4A 567, the stars foretold a great calamity.”
    • A citizen of Kaelara might say: “My ancestors settled here in 5A 67, during the early days of this Age.”

This system allows for a clear understanding of how far events are removed from the Shattering Age, the universal starting point for Kaelara’s timeline. For instance:

  • An event in 4A 587 happened 3587 years after the Shattering Age.
  • A scholar in the Current Age might reflect on the mythic events of 1A 999, knowing they occurred nearly 4000 years ago.
