Cosmic Layers

The Heavens Covenant Cosmology

Mortal Plane

The physical universe where the planets reside. Travel between planets is rare but possible using ancient portals or forgotten technology.

Astral Veil

The metaphysical “skin” of reality. It acts as a filter, protecting the Mortal Plane from the raw, corrosive energy of the Void.

  • The Resonance: Magic is the act of pulling energy through the Veil.
  • The Tearing: In the current age, the Veil is fraying. Excessive magic creates “micro-tears,” leading to Veil-Sickness (bleeding eyes, crystallization).

The Infinite Spire (Godly Realms)

A non-Euclidean structure that exists outside of space.

  • The Pinnacle: The domain of Solphirion. A realm of blinding light and absolute silence.
  • The Roots: The domain of Othea. An endless forest where time flows backwards.
  • The Abyss: The foundation where Malakor gnaws at the roots.

The Nexus Void

See main article: The Afterlife

The space between dimensions, acting as the churning engine of creation and the “recycling bin” of the universe. When a soul is cleansed or a paradox occurs, the energy returns here.

Planet Kaelara

A mystical world of vast continents, ancient ruins, and untold mysteries, home to most civilizations.

Continents

Tavrenne

Tavrenne is home to diverse races, with each region fostering unique cultures and histories. From the noble Auriels of Velmere to the reclusive Crisaels of Blackmoor and Ironridge, the continent thrives on its varied inhabitants. Mortals such as the industrious Tharuns and nomadic Vaeryns share the land with mystical elves and rugged beasts, creating a dynamic and often conflicting world.

Other Continents

These lands are distant, largely unexplored, and shrouded in myth.

Valkora (The Shattered Continent)

Zephyra (The Wind Coast)

Thalyssar (The Frozen Wastes)

Astrinor (The Sunken Continent)

Moons

Nythra (The Arcane Eye)

A glowing blue moon that governs the tides of magic. When Nythra is full, magic is potent but volatile. Nythra bears deep fracture lines across its surface — scars from when Malakor struck it during the Shattering Age (1A 487). The moon survived but was permanently cracked, and its damaged state is one reason magical currents across Kaelara have never been fully stable since.

  • Lore: Believed to be the physical heart of Lunarae (The Weaver). Some scholars argue the fractures in Nythra are the true source of the Veil’s fragility — that Malakor’s blow wounded not just a moon but the goddess herself.
  • Effect: During a “Blue Zenith,” spell costs are halved, but miscasts cause wild magic surges.

Ceylir (The Blind Eye)

A dark, cratered moon that is barely visible against the night sky.

  • Lore: Associated with Nocnitsa (The Night-Hag). It is said that Ceylir is a hole in the sky leading directly to the Void.
  • Effect: During a “New Moon,” boundaries between worlds thin, allowing spirits and Void-entities to slip through.

Planet Valerion (The Wandering Star)

A neighboring gas giant that appears as a bright golden star.

  • Myth: The Auriels believe it is the waiting room for the next age.
  • Orbit: Aligns with Kaelara once every thousand years (The Celestial Accordance).

Planet Kyrris (The Red Ember)

A small, fiery planet, likely volcanic.

  • Myth: The forge-world of Ignifer. Astronomers have observed massive explosions on its surface.
